Fenton Brown Emerging Artists
As part of its robust outreach program, EWS brings highly accomplished musical artists to schools, senior residences, and community organizations in several Shoreline communities each year. This four-day residency each spring has become a long-standing tradition initiated by former Artistic Director Mihae Lee.
Just prior to their wonderful March 22, 2026 performance, the award-winning artists of Trio Animoso provided days of outreach throughout Middlesex and New London Counties. Sophia Jean (flute), Julian Seney (viola), and Subin Lee (harp) are committed to music in the community as much as EWS. They visited schools and senior communties, touching the lives of more than 1,500 area individuals of all ages through 17 performances at 15 different locations. A free, open-to-the-public masterclass at the Essex Library Association and a joint session with Community Music School’s New Horizons Band were highlights.
For the current season, this overall outreach effort is made possible in part with grant funding from ASP Trust, the Community Foundation of Middlesex County through the generosity of the GSB Grant Making Fund, River View Cemetery Fund, and Ivoryton Congregational Church Community Enrichment Fund; the Kitchings Family Foundation, Essex Bank through its Community Investment Program funding, and the Fenton Brown Circle.
