We at Essex Winter Series were fortunate and extremely happy to finally present the long-awaited BeethovenFest concert on December 19, 2021. Quite the wait from the original March 2020 date, but so worth it. What a concert it was!
A “Dream Team” of seven exceptional artists – clarinetist David Shifrin, hornist William Purvis, bassoonist Frank Morelli, violinist Ida Kavafian, violist Steve Tenenbom, cellist Peter Wiley, and double bassist Timothy Cobb – performed so beautifully and lifted everyone’s spirit. To celebrate the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birthday – and just a few days after his 251st birthday – this stellar group of world-renowned musicians performed two beloved works of the master composer, the Serenade for Violin, Viola, and Cello, Op. 8 and the Septet in E-flat, Op. 20.
Special thanks to our loyal fans who attended the concert and were so excited to be there for an in-person performance once again. As people exited, many thank-yous and kudos were heard by a most appreciative crowd. Now we look with excitement to our 2022 season beginning in January.
